Amanda Kalaku is a Project Support Officer at Environmental Rural Solutions (ERS). She grew up in rural and urban areas in Matatiele, Eastern Cape province. From a young age, she enjoyed being adventurous and exploring nature and she appreciated the environment. Amanda completed her grade 12 at Siqongweni Secondary School and is currently studying for a Diploma in Tourism Management at the University of South Africa (UNISA).
Amanda joined ERS in 2019 as an intern and has been involved in a variety of projects such as rangeland management, invasive alien plant clearing, spring protection, land stewardship (declaration of protected land), communications, research surveys, community engagement, and being a youth representative. In addition, Amanda enjoys fieldwork, she is a very keen and fast learner, with an eye for identifying different fauna and flora species and possible tourism opportunities in the landscape. Amanda loves working in rural villages and doing work that helps to improve people’s lives.
