ASIPHE MAPHASA- Livelihood and youth coordinator

Asiphe Maphasa, born and raised in Matatiele, joined Environmental and Rural Solutions (ERS) in June 2025 as a livelihood and youth coordinator under the rangeland restoration theme. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree with majors in Environmental Science and Geography from Rhodes University.

Ms Maphasa is a dynamic and adaptable environmentalist with a strong commitment to sustainable development. Her passion for the environment was evident early in her career, where she worked with Matatiele Local Municipality as an EPWP worker under the Environment and Waste Unit.

In addition to her core role at ERS, Asiphe also supports the organisation’s communication. She plays a key role in monitoring and evaluation processes, ensuring that the impact of ERS’s work is effectively captured, reported and disseminated. With her background in farming and youth development, Asiphe brings both practical knowledge and community focused insights to her work, making her a valuable asset to the ERS team and in the Matatiele community at large.
